A new cryptocurrency mining data center officially opened in Cuthbert, Randolph County, South Georgia, as of September 25, 2025. The facility is operated by an affiliate known as LN Energy 8 LLC (project manager Hao Chen mentioned in reports). It is located in Cuthbert's industrial park on less than one acre off Broad Street, with an investment of approximately $1.45 million. The site consists of six data center modules and consumes about 7 MW of power (equivalent to powering around 5,000 homes). The operation involves a network of computers solving complex math problems to secure Bitcoin transactions. Local leaders view it positively for economic benefits, including added equipment to the tax digest (potentially lowering county taxes) and significant utility payments translating to community reinvestment. Another facility is expected to break ground soon in Atkinson County.
